National Consumer Empowerment Conference (2012)
3rd Annual National Consumer Empowerment Conference
Consumer Action’s 3rd Annual National Consumer Empowerment Conference will be held on Nov. 14-15 near Chicago. The annual conference takes community outreach and consumer literacy training to the next level by providing up to 75 of our most effective community group partners—from cooperative extension offices and social service agencies to veterans advocates and credit and housing counselors—with the rare opportunity to learn from some of the country’s top community educators and subject matter experts and to network with other adult consumer literacy education providers. During this two-day event, educators, consumer advocates, regulatory and industry representatives and other key stakeholders address critical consumer issues and share best practices in community-based consumer education and empowerment.

The budget for this year’s National Consumer Empowerment Conference is $150,000, which will enable us to enroll 75 CBO leaders from dozens of states. Because many of the non-profits that we support with free materials and training operate on a shoestring, Consumer Action does not charge participants to attend the conference. In addition, we provide travel stipends to cover much of participants’ travel expenses. Our sponsorship levels include:
- Underwriter ($35,000)–provides the opportunity to make conference welcoming remarks; includes special recognition from the podium, acknowledgement on all materials, a full-page ad in the conference program and logo display on the conference webpage
- Leadership Circle ($10,000)–provides the opportunity to make welcoming remarks at the reception; includes acknowledgement on all materials, a half-page ad in the conference program and special recognition on the conference webpage
- Benefactor ($5,000)–includes acknowledgement on all materials, a quarter-page ad in the conference program and listing on the conference webpage
- Sponsor ($2,500)–includes acknowledgement on all materials and listing on the conference webpage
Underwriter, Leadership Circle and Benefactor levels enable the sponsor to attend the conference and display educational materials.
Of course, we welcome and appreciate contributions at any level. All donors will be listed in the printed and online conference program.
Consumer Action is a non-profit 501(c)3 non-profit education organization. All contributions are tax-deductible charitable donations.
