Yamin Chai
Assistant Director, San Francisco Office
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), Assistant Director of Consumer Action’s San Francisco Office, joined Consumer Action in May 2008. Previously, Chai worked as senior reporter and deputy news editor at Ming Pao Daily, one of three major Chinese-language newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She was one of a handful of employees working for Ming Pao Daily when it launched its first edition in San Francisco in 2004. During her tenure of more than four years, Chai reported news ranging from politics, education, consumer, civil rights and labor unions. She also conducted investigations for in-depth news coverage.
Her main beat was San Francisco city hall and politics. Even though she had no previous related background in the area of American politics when she started her reporting career, she became an accomplished city hall reporter, often identifying stories and issues ahead of other Chinese reporters, and broke exclusive stories of interest to local Chinese readers.
Chai currently helps Consumer Action publish its hundreds of multilingual publications and assists our outreach team in its consumer education efforts.
She graduated from San Francisco State University in 2003, with a major in broadcasting. Chai is currently studying in the MBA program at Golden Gate University.
