National Consumer Protection Week arrives (March 2-8)

Thursday, February 27, 2014

The first week of every March is National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW), a coordinated campaign to encourage individuals and families nationwide to understand and exercise their consumer rights and make well-informed consumer choices. Consumer Action is a long-standing partner in the NCPW campaign.

Now in its 16th year, NCPW shines a spotlight on consumer education efforts by state and federal government agencies and non-profit organizations across the country. Savvy consumers are more likely to make smart financial decisions, avoid scams and assert their rights in the marketplace, and education is the single best way for them to protect themselves and achieve financial wellbeing.

Visit the NCPW website this week, or at any time during the year, to get free brochures, guides, fact sheets and other consumer education materials—for yourself, or to share with your clients, community, friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. Topics run the gamut from credit, debt and banking to privacy, fraud and Internet safety. Locate information and materials by category or by organization, or learn about special consumer events on the NCPW blog.

Consumer Action offers free publications in multiple languages on our website. Site visitors can also submit questions and complaints to our referral and advice hotline and join our mailing list.
