40th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act!

Event Details
There are two special events commemorating Martin Luther King's life and the 40th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act!
teachIN - Saturday, January 19, 2008, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Morial Convention Center (Free and open to the public). A day of community education including workshops on:
- Race relations in New Orleans;
- Renters' rights;
- How to acquire vacant and blighted properties;
- The state of black New Orleans;
- Predatory lending;
- How to purchase your first home; and
- Tips for responsible landlords (detailed workshop listing available 1/14/08)
dineOUT - Monday, January 21, 2008, all day at restaurants across New Orleans. Treat yourself to dinner on Dr. King’s birthday at any participating restaurant, and the restaurant will donate 20% of its income that night to support efforts of the Fair Housing Action Center. Participating restaurants will be announced 1/14/08.
