This upcoming conference is of strategic importance to all of us whether we’re self-employed, work in corporate America, or look towards entrepreneurship as our road to the future. Not only will there be in-depth discussions on supplier diversity opportunities, preserving minority-owned banks, small business finance techniques, and venture and growth capital, there also will be the chance to meet with companies seeking minority partners via their supplier diversity programs and financial institutions that are looking to make loans and invest in our communities.

This is a conference that you should attend and encourage your friends, relatives, and co-workers to do likewise. The Black Economic Council (BEC) has been lobbying on behalf on Black Americans on issues of economics since being formed in June 2005. Exclusively focused on the capital markets, banks, pension funds, both public and corporate, insurance companies, endowments and foundations, we have made significant progress in our only 3 years of existence. We work with banks, corporate pension fund officials and meet with foundations regarding their paltry donations to minority-led non-profits and lack of investments with Black asset and private equity fund mangers. On November 17th and 18th, we will be traveling to Washington DC with the Greenlining Coalition to meet with Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman and Shelia Bair, Chair of the FDIC and other bank regulators. In 2009, an intense campaign on college endowments……the ultimate sacred cow……will be added to our agenda.
