Learn more about Americans for Financial Reform
Below is an excerpt from the coalition's website:
The coalition includes a broad array of financial experts and advocates who are joining together in a campaign to reform our financial system and rebuild our economy.
Americans for Financial Reform is committed to making sure that the financial sector is working for all Americans. We need to rebuild the economy on a strong, solid foundation so that the bankers on Wall Street don’t control what happens on your street.
The coalition will cover 9 issues:
- Systemic Risk Regulation
- Mortgage Relief and the Community Reinvestment Act
- Consumer Protection
- Regulating the Shadow Markets
- Resolution Authority
- Prudential Regulation
- Civil Rights Compliance
- Global Issues
A large number of organizations are working together to advance our common interest in an accountable, transparent and secure financial system, and to accomplish our shared policy goals. Because the organizations involved and the issues addressed are diverse, not every organization works on or has a policy position on every specific issue. We are unanimous in our call for change to repair our nation’s broken financial system, establish integrity in the financial markets, and facilitate productive economic activity that benefits all segments of our communities.
