Credit Cards
What is a credit card billing error?
Billing errors include things like being charged twice for the same purchase or being charged for a purchase you didn’t make; being charged the wrong amount or not being credited the correct amount; or being charged for a purchase that was not delivered or that was delivered but you didn’t accept.
You have a right to dispute credit card billing errors. To protect your rights, you must notify the credit card issuer of the dispute in writing within 60 days of when the statement that first reflects the error is issued. (This is why it’s so important to check your statements as soon as you receive them.)
The card issuer must either correct the error and adjust your account accordingly or notify you that it found no error through its investigation.
