What are the limits on FDIC insurance?

Individual deposits up to $250,000 are fully covered by the FDIC. (This is an increase from pre-2009) coverage limits of up to $100,000. You may be able to keep several accounts at the same bank, each with a limit of $250,000. For specific information on your particular situation, use the FDIC's online calculator to help you manage your accounts so that the largest amount possible will be insured.
