Help Desk FAQ
Health Care/Medical
Is there a reliable family health care manual?
It is a great idea to have a good medical reference book at home. Many health plans have published very complete guides to assessing the seriousness of health concerns. Start your search by asking your health plan if it provides such a manual to members. These guides will often use the same terms as your plan's materials and can help you decide whether or not you need to call your doctor.
Other well-known and readily available medical books include "The Merck Manual of Medical Information Home Edition" and "The Physicians Desk Reference Family Guide Encyclopedia of Medical Care."
