Foreclosure review deadline is looming
Wednesday, December 26, 2012
Borrowers who've suffered financial harm due to errors made during the foreclosure process, in 2009 and 2010, have until Monday, December 31, 2012 to apply for an Independent Foreclosure Review (IFR).
Compensation could range from $500 to $125,000 per homeowner for wrongful foreclosures, rejections of loan modifications, lost paperwork, unjustified delays and other errors. Borrowers could also be eligible for loan modifications, corrections to credit reports etc.
There is no cost to consumers to request a foreclosure review and it does not affect any other foreclosure related actions borrowers might choose to take. Consumers are encouraged to request a full file review.

Separately, under the (Attorneys' General) National Mortgage Settlement, the deadline to file a claim for compensation for consumers who have lost their home to foreclosure is January 18, 2013.
