California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
Handles complaints about phone service (excluding equipment) within the state of California, including public and privately owned pay phones, privately-owned gas and electric utilities and privately owned water companies. The CPUC also handles complaints regarding intrastate commerce that involve buses, trucks, and trains.
For calls outside the state of California the CPUC will direct those inquiries to the Federal Communications Commissions.
The CPUC accepts e-mail complaints from consumers. Consumers can choose from three e-mail destinations depending on their problem:
- Complaints regarding utility service, billing, or other matters:
- Complaints regarding utility safety matters:
- Complaints regarding household good movers:
E-mail complaints should include the same information required for written complaints.
Consumers can also download the complaint form and mail or fax it back to the CPUC.
