Dubbed “the most important financial conference for professionals in the mid-Atlantic,” all who attended the University of Maryland’s 24th Annual Personal Finance Seminar were treated to a sampling of the renowned MoneyWi$e Financial Literacy curriculum. Linda Williams, community outreach and training manager for Consumer Action, staffed a table stocked with free MoneyWi$e publications at the seminar.

The University of Maryland’s 24th Annual Personal Finance Seminar was held May 16th-18th at the Doubletree Hotel in Annapolis, Maryland. Because of the prominence this seminar has had in the past, it attracted attendees from across the country and internationally. Many of the seminar attendees were looking for new materials and service information to support the development or enhancement of their community’s financial literacy programs, and many made their decisions based upon the materials exhibited and service information provided at the international event. Williams assisted attendees with their decisions by providing them with a mini-presentation that highlighted the unique features and benefits of the multilingual MoneyWi$e curriculum. The materials and order forms quickly vanished from the table.

Several Virginia Cooperative Extension agents who visited the table and were engaged by Williams mini-presentation were excited to learn about upcoming training opportunities on the MoneyWi$e curriculum in their area. Consumer Action will host a MoneyWi$e regional meeting in Richmond, VA on July 17, 2012.
