Consumer Action attends an event on women's needs in Riverside, CA.

On April 8, Linda Williams of Consumer Action's outreach team attended an open house sponsored by Riverside County Commission for Women in California's Inland Empire. Representatives from more than 30 community-based organizations and faith-based agencies attended. Williams gave a 30-minute presentation about Consumer Action and its multilingual, free materials.

The Riverside Board of Supervisors established the County of Riverside Commission for Women in 1978. In its work for women, the Commission, part of a network of local, state, and national commissions, focuses on a variety of concerns. These concerns include:

  • Childcare
  • Violence against women
  • Legal rights
  • Legislation
  • Housing
  • Problems of the elderly
  • Single parenting
