Consumer Action and AT&T hosted a WirelessED training in September for the staff of community-based organizatons (CBOs) and government agencies from Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in Northern California. The training drew staff from senior centers, workforce development agencies, legal services, social services and housing agencies.
Community Outreach Manager Linda Williams taught the first session on “Why Adults Learn.” This session helps trainers understand how to communicate and reach adult learners as well as provides tips and techniques to help them prepare their presentations.
Later, Williams was joined by Community Outreach Manager Nelson Santiago to teach the Wireless Education session, which included:
- reviewing a fictional wireless service bill;
- discussions on privacy in public locations;
- safe disposal of old phones;
- options for traveling abroad with your wireless phone; and
- information on managing wireless service costs.
