Consumer Action exhibits at the Year of the Ox Chinese New Year Celebration at Cal State University Sacramento.
Sponsor: California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) Outreach team members Audrey Perrott and Jamie Woo attended the Year of the Ox Chinese New Year Celebration at California State University Sacramento, on February 14. The event was held for students, stakeholders, community organizations and consumer groups to commemorate the Chinese New Year. More than 1500 people attended the New Year’s celebration including exhibits by [Chinese American Council of Sacramento, OCA Greater Sacramento Area Chapter, Chinese Alzheimer’s Society]. Consumer Action provided information on credit repair, money management for teens as well as ID theft, senior citizen scams, foreclosure prevention and healthcare. Consumer Action offered its free publications to attendees in English, Chinese and Spanish. Materials are also available in Vietnamese and Korean. The Sacramento area has been hit hard by the current economic crisis. Many people commented about the country’s economic state and how it was affecting their housing and finances. The event emphasized the importance of working together with our respective agencies and communities, particularly in tough economic times.Quick Menu
