Chicagoans are better with their money

Chicago residents might be surprised by a new survey that shows we are generally more confident and optimistic than other Americans about the economy and their personal finances.
That’s according to a survey to be released later this week by JPMorgan Chase & Co. and advocacy group Consumer Action. Instead, experts suspect it stems from Midwestern financial conservatism, compared with other areas of the country.
“I just think there’s a great deal of optimism in the Midwest,” said Linda Sherry, national priorities director for Consumer Action. “There might be more of that ‘bootstraps’ attitude in the Midwest, and people are a little more likely to take control and not expect somebody else to do it for them.”
