Gas prices turn up, could put damper on economy

So much for relief at the pump — and some much needed fuel for the sputtering economy. After falling to $3.54 a gallon from May's $3.98 peak, prices have unexpectedly surged the past two weeks to a national average of almost $3.70 — a dollar higher than levels a year ago.
