Higher gas prices pinch consumers

The meteoric rise in gasoline prices may have peaked, at least for now. But many shell-shocked consumers expect the pain at the pump to be a chronic condition. A new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds that 54% of Americans believe high gas prices are here to stay.
