While quality-of-life reasons may help explain why roughly half of U.S. businesses are home-based, there are plenty of financial reasons to go the “homepreneur” route. If you use a part of your home for business, you may be able to deduct expenses from your federal income tax, including mortgage interest, insurance, utilities, repairs and depreciation of the business portion of your home.
