Prying into your pills: Proper or not?

Rush Limbaugh was detained at the Palm Beach airport last week after Customs inspectors found he was carrying some of the erectile-dysfunction medicine Viagra in a prescription bottle that was mislabeled with his doctor’s name and not his own.
But the widely reported story has created — or aggravated — confusion among some travelers who routinely take along prescription medications or over-the-counter pills that aren’t labeled. I heard from several frequent business travelers last week asking if they, too, could be hauled aside for the third degree because they’re carrying unmarked pills.
Officially, the answer is no on domestic flights. First, Mr. Limbaugh was detained by Customs, where laws about importing any drug without a proper label are strict. At Transportation Security Administration airport checkpoints, no such laws apply.
