Verizon iPhone 4 launches with a couple of hitches

Despite fresh controversy over the antenna of the iPhone 4, fans of the device are expected to line up in droves as the phones go on sale today at Apple and Verizon Wireless stores as well as select Walmart and Best Buy locations.
ILounge, a website devoted to Apple products, reminded Internet surfers about antenna problems that first surfaced for the iPhone 4 when it was released in June for AT&T’s network. The antenna problem is actually “worse” with the Verizon phone, iLounge says, causing both dropped calls and dropped Wi-Fi. Apple declined to comment. Consumer Reports, which first reported the antenna problem in June, says it hasn’t tested the Verizon iPhone yet but plans to do so soon.
CR did send a letter to Verizon asking what happens to new customers buying iPhones this week: Will they get a shot at the iPhone 5, which is expected to launch later in the year? CR also called on Verizon to offer rebates or discounts for those who want to upgrade without having to wait for two years, and for Verizon to spell out its pricing policy before the contracts are signed.
