Health care reform benefits kick in for 18 to 24 year olds
California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG) has published a guide for young people on how to navigate new health care benefits.
View the guide entitled "The Young Person's Guide to Health Insurance"
Health care reform benefits are beginning to slowly roll out across the nation, with the most recent benefits aimed at helping 18-24 year olds, a group that, according to CALPIRG, is the least likely to have employer-based health insurance and the most likely to be without sufficient health care coverage.
One of the major features of the new law that goes into effect this week is allowing kids to stay on their parents' plan until they are 26 or find adequate job-based coverage. Other reforms include increased access to preventative care for all Americans.
