Consumer Action awards small grants of $5,000-$7,500, which we call “mini grants,” to community-based organizations that work with underserved constituents.

    This MoneyWi$e Financial Literacy Outreach & Education Report is based on final mini-grants and bi-monthly reports and applications submitted to Consumer Action by community-based agencies receiving mini-grants (stipends) during the first round of the 2010 Moneywi$e Financial Literacy Outreach & Education Stipend Program. The first phase of the stipend program ran during the five months ending December 31, 2010. MoneyWi$e is a financial literacy partnership of Consumer Action and Capital One Financial Corporation.

    Nine community organizations that attended MoneyWi$e trainings in Texas and Louisiana or used MoneyWi$e materials in their communities have been awarded mini-grants by Consumer Action and Capital One to support financial empowerment in diverse communities. MoneyWi$e curricula includes: brochures, leader's guides, lesson plans and power point slides. MoneyWi$e was developed by Consumer Action in partnership with Capital One.
