Multicultural/Multilingual Outreach and Training

Consumer Action’s multilingual and multicultural community outreach managers work to empower individual consumers and community educators nationwide through free, unbiased, rights-focused consumer literacy information and training.

Aware that the best way to reach vulnerable consumer populations is to work with trusted community entities, Consumer Action’s outreach staff leverages our national network of nearly 7,000 community-based organizations—the largest and most diverse of its kind—by providing information and tools to enable them to educate and advocate for their constituents. These tools include in-person and webinar training to prepare community educators to teach the material on their own; lesson plans and PowerPoint presentations to facilitate consumer workshops; ongoing educator support; and multilingual consumer education publications on dozens of consumer and personal finance topics. Community-based organizations that become network Affiliate members receive membership benefits that include multiple free publication orders per year and the opportunity to participate in special in-person events (Consumer Lobby Day, the National Consumer Empowerment Conference, etc.). (Visit our membership webpage to learn more about becoming an Affiliate member.

Outreach staff also offer presentations at community events and conferences, counsel individual consumers, and provide expert analysis and commentary to English, Spanish and Chinese media on a variety of consumer issues.
