Don’t discard that email—that Equifax refund is real
Monday, December 23, 2024
It might look like a scam but that email claiming you are eligible for another refund may be the real deal.
You may have recently received a legitimate email alerting you that an extra payment is headed your way if you had incurred losses after the 2017 Equifax data breach. About 147 million people’s personal data were affected by the mega data breach, including Social Security numbers, birthdates, credit card and drivers license numbers, etc.
Consumers who filed a claim for out-of-pocket lost money and time received $125 (or long-term free credit monitoring) and may be eligible for more compensation from the $700 million settlement. (The deadline to file a claim ended last January.)
The email, sent in November or December to those with a valid claim, states that you will receive additional funds via an electronic prepaid card.
For any questions about the extra reimbursement, contact [email protected] or call (833) 759-2982.
