Keep your Home California foreclosure rescue program set to close

Thursday, June 07, 2018

Californians currently at risk of losing their homes or of falling behind on their mortgage payments should take one last look at Keep your Home California (KYHC), the state's foreclosure prevention program that has benefited almost 82,000 people since 2011.

KYHC has announced that it will close to new applications on June 29. Given the level of documentation required, it often takes applicants a couple weeks to complete the application. Anyone considering applying to the program should do so ASAP.

Although some might assume that Keep your Home California is an unecessary relic of the foreclosure crisis from which we have pretty much recovered, the truth is that the program continues to assist struggling homeowners, even when their struggles now stem more from individual misfortune rather than the broader economic forces unleashed during the Great Recession.
