Help save the broadband privacy rule!

This is outrageous! Congress is trying to undo the broadband privacy protections we helped win last year at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Last week the US Senate voted to eliminate these broadband privacy rules that would have required internet service providers to get your explicit consent before selling or sharing your browsing data and other private information with advertisers and other companies. The House vote is tomorrow and we fear the worst.

So what can you do?

1. Call your congressperson. Dial 202-224-3121 to reach an operator at the Capitol switchboard who will connect you to your representatives. Say you want to Save Broadband Privacy!

2. Send a tweet or post on Facebook. Use the hashtag #SaveBroadbandPrivacy. Click here to find your members' Twitter handles and tweet to them directly.

3. Call your internet service provider (such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, AT&T, Cox, Charter and Verizon). Call the customer service number on your bill and ask "Why do you want to sell and share my information without giving me control or choice?" They are spending big bucks to lobby Congress to repeal this rule. Tweet to your ISP, too, challenging their support of this anti-consumer and anti-privacy activity. After all, your money is paying for the lobbying!
