消費者行動 是一個向全國提供消費者教育和代言服務的非牟利組織,三月九日於加州三藩市宣佈將在全國展開WirelessED(無線數據服務社區加強教育)。預期日後會有成千上萬的消費者因這項計劃而受惠,因為在接受這項社區教育後,大家可以從日新月異的數據器材及服務中,做出最佳選擇。此項多元語文教育計劃是由AT&T贊助,而在教材中所提供的用量預估工具和相關資料適合所有無線通訊公司的用戶參考,並將提升廣大消費群正確使用數據通訊服務的能力。

消費者行動 行政主任Ken McEldowney提及:“大家在日常生活中越來越需要使用無線通訊器材,但我們並不想每月收到一張讓人吃驚的高額帳單!WirelessED(無線數據服務社區加強教育)將指導消費者如何善用各類公司與用戶之間的交流工具及資料來預估每月數據用量,同時也教育消費者明智選用無線通訊服務和器材,以及詳述國內和國際數據服務費指標。”

消費者行動 同時也在製作一套多元語文教材,包括三本手冊以及系列培訓講義,以提供各社區的非牟利組織在團體講座或一對一個案諮詢時使用。消費者行動多年來與全國八千多個非牟利組織聯絡互動,此次也將藉助他們達成社區培訓計劃及派發資訊豐富的教育手冊,預期將有超過20萬個屬於弱勢族群的消費者受惠。

消費者行動 從今年6月開始將分別在Atlanta, Houston, San Francisco 陸續展開社區組織培訓圓桌會議,由社區外展部親自訓練非牟利組織學員如何善加利用各種教材以協助社區居民。這些手冊內容包括:何謂無線數據、可監測用量的隨身應用軟件及工具、國際漫遊區域、如何選擇合適的無線通訊器材,以及新款智能電話相關資料,和最適合消費者個人使用的通訊器材等等。手冊以中、英、韓、越南,以及西班牙文印製發行。消費者諮詢熱線1-415-777-9635以中、英、西班牙文向消費者提供建議及轉介。
