Consumer backlash spurs Equifax to drop ‘ripoff clause’

Equifax customers may be gratified to learn that recent consumer backlash apparently led company executives to disavow a blanket arbitration clause for victims of the enormous security hack. A document the company posted on its site yesterday declared that forced arbitration would not be required for security breach victims who decide to take up the company on its offer of a year's worth of a free credit monitoring service known as TrustedID Premier.
