The Treasury Department wants your opinion on its proposal for what adults need to know about managing money and personal finances. The agency has broken down its financial literacy map into five key personal finance areas: earning, spending, saving, borrowing and protecting against personal financial damages such as default or foreclosure.

The goal is to put these concepts in an easy-to-remember format that can be used by financial education programs across the country — so that consumers can make more informed decisions about their incomes and expenses.
