Where can I get the “fine print” about my employer’s retirement plan?

For help understanding your employer-sponsored retirement plan, contact your employer’s Human Resources (HR) or Benefits department. They may refer you to the retirement plan “administrator”—a third-party firm that manages the plan on behalf of the employers who hire them—which should be able to provide you with whatever information you want and answer any question you have.

You can also get help understanding your employer-sponsored retirement plan from the Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA).
