Money Smart adult education program

Money Smart, a free financial literacy program developed by the FDIC, is available online and in printed versions. It also offers train the trainer videos online.

The Money Smart computer-based teaching program teaches the 10 modules of the Money Smart curriculum online. It can be used in classes or by people who want to study independently.

Each module generally takes between 20-30 minutes to complete. Students receive ongoing feedback and, upon successful completion of each module, can print out a personalized certificate of completion.

When you begin to use the online program, you may be prompted to install certain software upgrades, including the latest version of the Macromedia Shockwave player installed on your computer. Click here for these updates. If you are accessing the CBI from a slow Internet connection, the application may experience brief delays in responding.

In addition, Money Smart offers Train-the-Trainer videos in English and Spanish, designed for those who are interested in teaching financial education to others. Money Smart instructors can quickly obtain an overview of the curriculum components, see the usefulness of the instructor guide and how to use it effectively, become familiar with the student materials, and understand the importance of advanced preparation.

The Train-the-Trainer videos can be viewed online. If you are unable to view it online, you may order a copy in DVD or VHS format.
